So it’s not everyday that I make cakes, but today is special. It’s Mother’s Day. I’m pretty sure my mom is so sick of cookies at this point that the last thing I want to do is make her a nice batch of (ew! not another one) sugar cookies. I decided to take the plunge and make a cake. For some reason this task sounded much more daunting than it really was. I knew I wanted to make a naked cake, I just had to figure out what flavor.
And then it came to me.
A few years ago, my mom and I were visiting my cousins in LA and we had the best lemonade. It was a rosemary infused lemonade. Yum. I decided I wanted to make a lemon rosemary cake. The recipe for the cake was pretty simple, I just had to make sure I had all of the ingredients. The icing was a lemon buttercream, which was the perfect touch for the cake. Making a naked cake is easy because it doesn’t have to look perfect. I decorated the cake with the remaining rosemary and small white flowers from my front yard. Wow, I sound like a hippie.
The end result was delicious and well appreciated by my Momma.
