Cookie Tiles

I have always dreamed of living in a Spanish style house in Santa Barbara one day, but until I make five million dollars, I will just have to settle making cookie tiles that look like they belong in my dream house. This was a fun, but tedious project to work on. I started out with a basic square cookie cutter and flooded the cookies in white icing.

Then I created a clay looking icing to create the design outlines. I used a brown food coloring and mixed it with burgundy. Luckily, I had my KopyKake projector to help me with the intricate designs.

Once I completed the outlines and the icing fully dried, I went back in with color to create the perfect Spanish tiles. Yellow, turquoise, royal blue and white seemed to jump out at me the most, so I managed to work them into the tiles. The result was magical. My mom told me I should go into the tile business after I finished these. I just laughed (I mean I can’t make cookies and tiles, right? *nervous laugh*).
